Welcome to Norfolk Websites, a dedicated space within the Cromer Media creative
hub where I channel my experience in local publishing, writing, and photography into
crafting custom websites for our North Norfolk community.
For me, building a website has always been part of the creative process.

Norfolk Websites has found its own look.
As Norfolk Websites has grown within Cromer Media, it has developed its own visual identity too. The circular NW mark brings together traditional lettering with a subtle coastal sweep, reflecting its roots in Cromer and North Norfolk while remaining part of the wider Cromer Media family.
The build became part of the artistry.
Over the years, my photography, writing and creative projects have all needed places of their own to live online. So I built them. What started out of necessity slowly evolved into something I fell in love with.
I discovered that building those online spaces was just as creative as the photographs, words and concepts that would eventually occupy them. With each project I learnt something new, and before I knew it those separate websites had developed into the broader creative platform you can discover through Cromer Media today.
Somewhere along that journey, I also began helping other people with their own ideas. And more recently, I found myself looking at everything I had built and realising something surprisingly simple: this approach to creative website design was something I should perhaps be offering more openly to local businesses, creatives, and community groups looking for a freelance web designer in Cromer and across North Norfolk.
Ideas need somewhere to live.

Behind the work
There is a story behind much of what I create. NORFUKNEWS began with late nights, conversations, coffee and the search for an idea that eventually found its own digital home. Building the Cromer Twinning Association website presented a very different challenge, bringing history, friendship, photography and words together for a community with connections across Europe.
And sometimes the story is best told by somebody else. My friend Geoff once decided to find out what it was really like working with me. What began as a simple question became his own journey through the photography, journalism, music, websites and ideas that have gradually become part of my creative world.
More recently, Geoff decided to turn his attention to the websites themselves. In From Bits of Paper to Norfolk Websites, he looks back at the scribbled notes, broken websites, garden conversations, coffee and years of learning that eventually gave this part of my creative work a name of its own.
Everything I’ve learnt finds its way into what I create.
I learned to look by taking pictures. I learned to listen and communicate a tale through writing. Publishing taught me how words, pictures and ideas can work together. And years of creating and managing websites taught me that what happens after a site goes live matters just as much as the day it is launched.
That experience naturally finds its way into the website design services I create. Sometimes a project needs strong photography or video. Sometimes the words matter most. Sometimes it simply needs to make something complicated feel wonderfully easy to understand.
Projects are unique. That’s why I love them. I never attempt to jam an idea into some pre-made box because dreams differ. I prefer knowing the individuals involved, their goals, their aspirations and where they want it all to go. Whether you need an affordable website for a small business or a digital home for a creative project, the approach is always personal.

Website design from the first idea onwards
Sometimes everything is ready to go. The photographs are there, the words are written and there’s already a clear idea of how the website should look. Other times, we might be starting with little more than an idea and a chat.
That’s absolutely fine. I can help shape the website from those early conversations, from its overall look and feel through to original photography, writing and the content that brings it to life.
If regular news or updates are important, we can build those into the website too, creating somewhere for fresh content to live and making it easy to share onwards through social media.
Behind the creative side are the foundations that matter too. I build with mobile use, accessibility and good search practices in mind, and I can continue helping with maintenance, updates, new content and the way the website develops after it goes live.
You don’t need to know all the technical answers before we begin. That’s part of what the first conversation is for.
