For me, building a website has always been part of the creative process.

The build became part of the artistry.
Over the years, my photography, writing and creative projects have all needed places of their own to live online. So I built them. What started out of necessity slowly evolved into something I fell in love with.
I discovered that building those online spaces was just as creative as the photographs, words and concepts that would eventually occupy them. With each project I learnt something new, and before I knew it those separate websites had developed into the broader creative platform you can discover through Cromer Media today.
Somewhere along that journey, I also began helping other people with their own ideas. And more recently, I found myself looking at everything I had built and realising something surprisingly simple: perhaps this was something I should be offering more openly.
Ideas need somewhere to live.

Behind the work
There is a story behind much of what I create. NORFUKNEWS began with late nights, conversations, coffee and the search for an idea that eventually found its own digital home. Building the Cromer Twinning Association website presented a very different challenge, bringing history, friendship, photography and words together for a community with connections across Europe.
And sometimes the story is best told by somebody else. My friend Geoff once decided to find out what it was really like working with me. What began as a simple question became his own journey through the photography, journalism, music, websites and ideas that have gradually become part of my creative world.
Everything I’ve learnt finds its way into what I create.
I learned to look by taking pictures. I learned to listen and communicate a tale through writing. Publishing taught me how words, pictures and ideas can work together. And years of creating and managing websites taught me that what happens after a site goes live matters just as much as the day it is launched.
That experience naturally finds its way into the websites I create. Sometimes a project needs strong photography or video. Sometimes the words matter most. Sometimes it simply needs to make something complicated feel wonderfully easy to understand.
Projects are unique. That’s why I love them. I never attempt to jam an idea into some pre-made box because dreams differ. I prefer knowing the individuals involved, their goals, their aspirations and where they want it all to go.
Every website starts with a chat over coffee.
